CAVALIERS
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are a small spaniel classed as a toy dog. They are playful, adaptable, patient, gentle, affectionate, and social dogs who love their owners. They are a loyal and friendly breed who are easily trainable. They typically have a happy temperament, combined with true elegance and a royal appearance. Cavaliers are generally well behaved and do not bark frequently. All of our cavaliers are classified as Blenheims- chestnut (red) and white in color. They average 12-18 pounds in size.
COAT AND GROOMING
The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has long, soft, silky hair that is lightly waved. They require occasional grooming as they are an average shedder. Their long silky coat should be brushed several times a week but no trimming is essential to this breed. Characteristic to this breed is their feathered hair on their feet and long, feathered tail which moves when the dog runs. Their ears should be checked and cleaned regularly to avoid build up of wax which leads to infection.
ENERGY AND EXERCISE
Cavaliers get along well with children and other dogs and are more on the quiet side. They do well with active lifestyles as well as homebodies. They are adaptable in their need for exercise, happy with either sleeping on the couch or taking long walks. Its needs can usually be met with indoor play. Cavaliers are a very intelligent breed making training fairly easy. A gentler training approach is needed.
TEMPERAMENT
Cavaliers are very sweet natured dogs. They are gentle and affectionate. Cavaliers enjoy being petted and are playful dogs. Cavaliers are most always happy, easygoing and trusting, a friend to everyone they meet. They are very lovable and make great lap dogs.
